Mosquito&MidgeFlyControl
Aquatic Systems
specializes in the application of non-toxic and biodegradable larvicides
to control mosquito and swarming midge fly populations. Larviciding
provides mosquito and midge fly control before these insects reach
their adult stage and become a problem. Adult mosquitoes spread
disease and midge fly swarms are a terrible nuisance that can trigger
allergies and respiratory reactions.
The proper use
of larvicides allows Aquatic Systems to provide its customers environmentally
safe, long term and cost-effective reduction in the insect populations
without affecting the food chain, fisheries or other non-target
species. Additional mosquito control measures; include the stocking
of lakes with the guppy Gambusia holbrokii. Gambusia readily
consume mosquito larvae and are most effective in bright open waters
devoid of aquatic weeds and algae allowing them to see and catch
the larvae. Gambusia, however, feed on other organisms besides mosquitoes
and may eat the eggs of other fish species. Long term midge fly
control can greatly benefit from the installation of a Vertex
bottom aeration system. Vertex aeration will oxidize and remove
the nutrients and suspended organic matter that midge fly larvae
depend on.
