June 2018 – Located in Land O’ Lakes, Florida, Lake Padgett is a beautiful 187-acre lake surrounded by homes, wetlands and natural areas.
Residents and visitors alike enjoy the many recreational opportunities afforded them by such a large community waterway including fishing, water-skiing, boating and swimming.
Several invasive aquatic plants had become established and spread throughout Lake Padgett including hydrilla and other weeds. Hydrilla forms large, weedy surface mats preventing recreational activities. It can build up in narrow areas and accumulate around water control structures restricting flow and causing flood conditions.
Aquatic Systems was awarded the Lake Padgett hydrilla management contract due to our extensive field experience and specialized scientific knowledge managing hydrilla infested waterways. Working closely with waterfront property owners, property management companies and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Aquatic Systems created and executed a whole-lake treatment plan that succeeded in controlling the hydrilla. The homeowners are once again enjoying Lake Padgett!
